Fantasy Grounds Runtime Error
'I left the world of Microsoft Windows to get away from problems like this because it's what is to be expected with anything that has to do with windows. I just cannot stand it'Honestly - If you are only here to rant about how bad Windows is and how you'left the world of Microsoft Windows.' You are at the wrong forums.- PC gaming always comes with problems and plenty of frustrations. If you can't hack it you are best off sticking with consoles.
Fantasy Grounds users can play with users on Steam or users outside of Steam. You can play with a mixed group of users on Mac, Windows PC and Linux platforms spread across the world and across different timezones. Some programs/apps unable to connect after Windows 10 upgrade Since upgrading to WIndows 10 certain programs do not connect to the internet. These include STEAM, Fantasy Grounds, MyDrive, PureVPN (at least not in TCP mode).
EDIT: Ooops - I got sidetracked with your statement and was thinking that your were using the VmWare on your laptop.I don't know why you would need to use a virtual machine to run any Steam game onWindows 7 64bit. An unnecessary complication. Steam releases are all compatible with Win7. 'It's mentioned in that thread that another game (tomb raider) might have some compatibility problem stemming from a different version of DirectX, or is a 32/64 bit problem'- If current games such as Tomb Raider (2013) have problems the blame is with the developer/publisher,and their apparent refusal to take PC gaming seriously by porting console games to PC anddoing a sloppy job of it. It is a growing problem for PC games and may be the issue with FF as well.Of course buying a game on or even close to release date has always been a danger.Best to wait until they come out with a patch, imo.'
I have the current version of DirecX 11 installed'- btw - Win7 actually has DX9, 10 & 11, but you do need to run the DX Web Install on fresh installsof Win7, as Win7 does not install with all the DX files. I assume you have already done so, but - I'm in no way a fan of Monopoly$oft for various reasons, but Win7 64bit is actually a very stableand forgiving OS (I'm running on an install that is coming on four years old, and it has been'imaged' from another machine to this one close to a year ago - a machine with completely differenthardware, too - AMD to Intel cpu & Nvidia to AMD gpu).I have close to 150 games running on Win7 64 bit. Of these the main problem has been with DRM,not the operating system. The worst years for DRM problems from what I've noticed are between '04 - '06, and is mostly todo with 64bit OS's (XP too). This has been overcome with all but I think two games by using anoCD hack.- The vast majority of games will install and run Win7 64bit with no compatibility problem.Other older games with 16bit installers also have a problem with 64bit OS's but this is nothing todo with Windows, it's just the developers couldn't look into the future and code their installersto suit.re - tinkering. A lot of us like tinkering via modding.
I would have taken Far Cry 3 back to the shopif there were no mods to get rid of all the ridiculous hand holding gimmicks they put on the HUD,and the black boxes with prompts (to make it easier for console gamers to read from 2+meters back). The 1.5 patch also made it possible to turn most of the prompts off, so that was a help as well. 'I left the world of Microsoft Windows to get away from problems like this because it's what is to be expected with anything that has to do with windows.' When it comes to games moving to Mac and trying to run games on VmWare is about ascomplicated an option as you can choose.

A pseudo Windows. What's the point? As you are obviously aware, not many games are released as compatible with Mac.A PC is a PC. Mac, Linux or Windows, there is no one trouble free solution.I'm in no way a fan of Monopoly$oft for various reasons, but Win7 64bit is actually a very stableand forgiving OS (I'm running on an install that is coming on four years old, and it has been'imaged' from another machine to this one close to a year ago - a machine with completely differenthardware, too - AMD to Intel cpu & Nvidia to AMD gpu).I have close to 150 games running on Win7 64 bit. Of these the main problem has been with DRM,not the operating system. The worst years for DRM problems from what I've noticed are between '04 - '06, and is mostly todo with 64bit OS's (XP too). Even then, the vast majority of games will install and run Win7 64bitwith no compatibility probelm.Other older games with 16bit installers also have a problem with 64bit OS's but this is nothing todo with Windows, it's just the developers couldn't look into the future and code their installersto suit. But really - If you are only here to rant about how bad Windows is and how you'left the world of Microsoft Windows' you are at the wrong forums. I wish this forum had a 'review' option before posting, as I am a horrible editor. You will see my posthas been changed considerably since you posted (yes, that's how long I spent editing and re-editing.embarrassed derp.
