• Gundam Freedom

The ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam (aka Freedom, X10A ) is a mobile suit that appears in the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny anime. The unit is piloted by Kira Yamato. One of ZAFT's ZGMF-X series of Gundam units build in CE 71 using technology derived from the four captured.

Technical andHistorical NotesThe Strike Freedom is stolen before its completion byTerminal, a secret organization associated with followers of Lacus Clyne. ZAFT'soriginal plan was to produce multiple units with overwhelming firepower.However, the stolen unit is instead refined for use by the Freedom Gundam'sformer pilot, Kira Yamato. Using combat data from the original Freedom, theTerminal Organization fine tunes the Strike Freedom to take advantage of KiraYamato’s Ultimate Coordinator talents & abilities. The Strike Freedom is amajor improvement over the original Freedom Gundam in various respects.

Thewings feature new high output thrusters developed from the 'VoitureLumiere' propulsion system used by the GSX-401FW Stargazer. A similarpropulsion system is used by ZAFT's ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam. The StrikeFreedom is powered by the hyper deuterium nuclear reactor technology developedby ZAFT. This new design stores power in deuterium form, providing a continuousdeuterium charge &, in theory, an endless power supply. However, it ispossible for the suit's power to be expended before the reactor can replenishit.

The Strike Freedom retains a set of hip-mounted rail cannons, although thecannons can swivel behind the main body and swap places with a pair ofhip-mounted, combinable beam rifles (similar to the old GAT-X103 BusterGundam). The Strike Freedom is also armed with a chest beam cannon, head-mountedvulcan guns, & a pair of beam sabers.

The biggest change in armaments,however, is in the Strike Freedom's wings. Where the original Freedom Gundamcarried a pair of plasma beam cannons, the Strike Freedom features eightDRAGOON (Disconnected Rapid Armament Group Overlook Operation Network) units.The DRAGOON units housed in the wings utilize an improved quantumcommunications system, allowing normal pilots without expanded spatialawareness to use them. Also, like the original Freedom Gundam, the StrikeFreedom is capable of docking with the METEOR mobile weapons platform. Justlike the original Freedom Gundam, the Strike Freedom also has the Multi-LockWeapons System & Full Burst Mode for rapid targeting & fire controlsystem.In early C.E.

74, the original Freedom Gundam is destroyedin a battle with Shinn Asuka's ZGMF-X56S Impulse Gundam. The Strike Freedomfirst enters combat when Kira flies into Earth orbit in the MBF-02 Strike Rougeto assist the Eternal, under attack by ZAFT forces Kira accompanied by LacusClyne in the ZGMF-X19A ∞ Justice Gundam, returns to Earth & rendezvous withthe Archangel. With ZAFT's attack on the Orb Union (codenamed Operation Fury)in full swing, Kira joins in the defense of Orb & engages Shinn's newDestiny Gundam.

Gundam Freedom

When the Three Ships Alliance heads to space to counter ZAFT'sforces, Kira participates in the final battle over the Moon. During the battle,Kira causes heavy damage to Rey Za Burrell’s ZGMF-X666S Legend Gundam. Usingthe METEOR, Kira also heavily damages ZAFT's mobile space fortress Messiah.Soon after, the death of PLANT Supreme Council Chairman Gilbert Durandal &the destruction of Messiah mark’s the end of the war.
